The MetroHealth Simulation Institute faced challenges and set backs similar to every other organization during the COVID-19 pandemic. Learning and training simulations were restricted during this time and new protocols were developed and put into place to keep healthcare workers, learners, and our community safe. Policy 23 in the MSI Policies and Procedures manual address the COVID-19 pandemic and through past experiences and simulations MSI was able to successfully adapt to the ever-changing situation presented.

MSI staff members previous knowledge on infectious disease protocol, enabled them to help create new protocols for keeping healthcare workers safe during the pandemic. If a situation like this were to occur in the future the protocols and training adjustments made for COVID, will serve as a template to build off of.
