Mock Codes, primarily done in-situ, allow departments the ability to train and increase effectiveness to code blue situations. In addition to ensuring that personnel across the MetroHealth system know proper code procedures and equipment utilization, the Simulation Institute has created additional educational tools, such as crash cart diagrams, and procedures to lead to a more effective emergency response.

When an emergency occurs, and a code blue is called, in any location of our growing network of outpatient clinics, inpatient locations, and ambulatory sites, a team is mobilized to deliver care. This led to an opportunity for the MetroHealth Simulation Institute to adapt and create new response processes to these emergencies, by collaborating with System Leadership. The expertise and initiative of the Simulation Institute led to the development of new “Go Bags”. These bags contain all necessary equipment to respond to an emergency anywhere in the system and System-wide training has been conducted.
